First published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice was Jane Austen's second novel and an instant bestseller. Aside from being the best-known novel from the Regency period, it is also one of the most popular novels of all time in English literature. The story follows the main character, Elizabeth Bennet, the second of five daughters of a country gentleman, as she deals with issues of society, family, manners, education and marriage among the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. This later edition of the novel includes many wonderful illustrations.
